Located in the heart of Brooklet, Georgia, Prosser's Seafood is a beloved local seafood market that stands out for its unwavering commitment to freshness and quality. Nestled at 110 Railroad Street, this family-run establishment is much more than just a place to buy seafood—it’s a hub for anyone who truly appreciates authentic, wild-caught Georgia seafood. With a focus on locally sourced shrimp and fish, Prosser’s Seafood consistently delivers a taste of the Lowcountry that keeps customers returning time and again.
What sets Prosser’s apart is their genuine dedication to offering premium, fresh seafood that you can trust. Owner-operated with pride, including a small shrimp boat running off the Georgia coast, the market boasts some of the best local wild shrimp around. Customers rave about the quality and freshness, noting the shrimp’s unmistakable sweetness and firm texture that epitomizes Lowcountry flavor. Beyond shrimp, Prosser’s offers a selection of fish and shellfish that capture the essence of the region’s bountiful waters, including sought-after snow crab legs, which, while not always fresh caught, still maintain the great quality expected here.
One of the most heartwarming aspects of Prosser's Seafood is their outstanding customer service—truly personalized and attentive. Shoppers like Kim Owens have praised the team’s willingness to go above and beyond, from helping prepare for large Lowcountry boils to filling coolers with ice and even carrying them to customers’ cars. This level of care ensures not only a smooth shopping experience but also a genuine sense of community and trust. The staff's warm and knowledgeable approach makes each visit feel like catching up with old friends who are passionate about seafood.
While Prosser’s selection can be seasonally limited, as is typical when relying on fresh, local catches, customers understand and appreciate the natural rhythm of the sea. John Marshall points out that the market’s focus remains firmly on Georgia species, with occasional purchases from the Carolinas when necessary, ensuring authenticity and supporting local fisheries. Despite the limited variety at times, the quality never wavers, and every purchase feels like a real connection to the coastal ecosystem.
Prices are fair, reflecting the high standards and sustainable practices behind each offering. Greg Roberts summarizes it best, calling Prosser's "the best seafood market anywhere" thanks to its combination of local wild shrimp, excellent fish selection, and top-notch quality at reasonable rates. This reputation is echoed by nearly every review, reinforcing Prosser’s status as a seafood market that delivers on taste, value, and integrity.
Whether you’re planning a big family seafood feast or simply craving the freshest shrimp you can find in the Lowcountry, Prosser’s Seafood is an indispensable resource. Its authentic Southern charm, commitment to fresh, sustainable seafood, and exceptional service create an experience that’s much more than a shopping trip—it’s a celebration of the rich flavors and traditions of Georgia’s coast.
Best wild caught fresh shrimp in the low country. Really nice staff. They also get some good snow crab legs. But those aren't fresh caught
Fresh seafood. Best place to buy shrimp in the area. They also have great customer service!
Best seafood market anywhere. Nice local GA wild shrimp. Good selection of fish. All top quality and fair prices. Bubba does a good job.
Fresh shrimp and fish. Superb service. They provide everything necessary for a large low country boil, even filled our cooler with ice and carried it out to our car. We love this place!
Good people. Fair prices. Fresh seafood. Focus on fresh GA species, though they'll buy from Carolinas if necessary. Owner has a small shrimp boat he operates off the GA coast. Selection is somewhat limited, but that's the way it is when everything is not in season at once.
Love, love, love the atmosphere. It truly made my Easter-family tradition come alive. The service was GREAT!!!!! Thanks again!
Great family owned seafood store. Have the freshest Wild Georgia Shrimp and other seafood. Oysters and the fixings to make a low country boil available in house including sausage, corn and potatoes. Totally worth the drive.
